| Around the dinner table with friends in late 1995, we decided to have a block party. I
said, “Let’s start a band for the party. I know a drummer, you play keyboards, Steve
plays guitar etc. …” that was the beginning.
Six months later we had a band, and our first show was May of 1996. We decided to solidify the
group and make it official. We decided to differentiate ourselves by playing Classic Rock
from the 60’s and early 70’s & 80’s…So many songs, so little time… We chose
danceable, fun, Classic Rock. Smashing Briefcases has played mostly in and around Charlotte, NC for Country Clubs, Private Parties, Wineries, Roanoke College, NC State Frat parties, and even the “bumper music” for the local CBS Morning Show. The events have been New Year’s Eve Parties, Charity Events (American Cancer Society, Juvenile Diabetes, etc.) for groups up to 1000 people. Our proudest contribution is that over 27+ years we have raised over $100,000 for charity by donating our services and/or being an auction item and then playing for free. Our cover song list is from: The Beatles, Traveling Wilburys, Rolling Stones, John Melloncamp. Tom Petty, Springsteen, Billy Joel, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Elvis, Everly Bros., Frampton, Steve Wynwood, SRV, Van Morrison, Clapton, Roy Orbison, Hendrix, Buffet, Steve Miller, Chuck Berry, REO, Jackie Wilson… We hope to see you at one of our shows very soon! |
